West Geauga High School senior surprised with full ride to Thiel College

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- West Geauga High School senior Alexis Brown, of Chesterland, Ohio, was awarded an academic scholarship worth $141,000 to Thiel College during a surprise presentation on Monday, Jan. 10 in front of her class and bandmates, family members and school faculty and staff members.

Brown was one of five winners for 2022. Brown and Toby Atwood, of Kittanning, Pa. and a senior at Armstrong High School, were the first recipients. The three remaining winners have yet to be announced. Brown won the scholarship based on her performance at a competition in late 2021.

She plans to major in political science and be a pre-law student.

Brown is active in the band at West Geauga. She is a clarinetist and would like to continue performing with the marching band, pep band, and concert band at Thiel College. She is a National Honor Society member, as well as a member of the student council, interact club and Asian culture club.
