DiTullio appointed Director of Bands and lecturer at Thiel College

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Scott M. DiTullio, Ed.D. was recently appointed the new Director of Bands and Lecturer for Thiel College’s Department of Music and Theater.

DiTullio has 28 years of experience in education. He was the Director of Bands for the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District and the Clarion-Limestone School District. He served as an adjunct instructor at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa., where he directed the jazz band, taught the trumpet studio, and was a consultant for the Bearcat Marching Band. Outside of his work in the academic arena, DiTullio continues to have a successful professional career. In 2021, he was named as the Director of Bands and Director of the Prelude Band with the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, which is a role that he will continue to serve in during his time at Thiel. During the summer of 2023, he was also the featured soloist for the youth philharmonic’s concert tour to Ireland.

DiTullio received his Bachelor of Science in music education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 1995. He earned his Master of Education in curriculum and instruction from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in 2002 and then earned a K-12 Administration Certification for Principals through California University of Pennsylvania in 2006. DiTullio completed a Doctorate in Education with a concentration in curriculum leadership from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass., in 2018.

In his free time, DiTullio performs with several music ensembles and is heavily involved in youth baseball, having served as a coach and chaperone for the Potter Baseball Summer Tour from 2017 to 2021. DiTullio resides in Clarion, Pa., with his wife, Joyce. They have two adult children.

The Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride performs at all home football games and at several off-campus events during the fall semester. It is open to any Thiel student with previous band experience. The Thiel Concert Band, also available to any student with prior experience, performs a major concert during the spring. The Thiel Pep Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Chamber Ensembles offer students further performance opportunities. Scholarships are available through an audition process.
