    FAQ's

The college band experience is very different. The Tomcat Marching Pride is a non-competitive band that combines traditional college spirit with today’s pageantry marching arts. We focus on crowd spirit and our close relationship with Thiel College Athletics.

Not at all. Beyond a week-long camp before classes start, the TTMP rehearses only four hours per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00 PM–6:00 PM). While game days are longer, our weekly schedule is highly efficient and designed to work with every student's major.

The Tomcat Marching Pride is a scheduled course that can be taken for either 1 credit or 0 credit. While it must appear on your official schedule, the four-hour weekly commitment is designed to fit easily alongside your other academic requirements.

There are no permanent class conflicts within the Thiel College schedule. If a timing issue arises, Dr. DiTullio and the Academic Dean work directly with you to ensure the conflict is resolved so you can participate in the band.

Majorettes and Color Guard hold auditions in April. For brass, woodwinds, and percussion, we hold a placement audition during Band Camp to determine parts within your section. There is a place in TTMP for any experience level.

The TTMP holds a week-long camp on campus prior to the start of the fall semester. Students move into their dorms early, and all meals are provided. The schedule is relaxed, balancing focused rehearsals with long breaks and social activities to help everyone get to know each other.

No. All ensembles, including concert band and jazz ensemble, are open to every student on campus regardless of marching band participation. However, Band Scholarships are reserved exclusively for students who commit to and complete the Tomcat Marching Pride season.

    Pep Band

The TTMP Pep Band is a dynamic extension of the Marching Pride and a high-energy community dedicated to fueling "Tomcat Spirit" all winter long. Members provide the soundtrack for basketball games and wrestling matches, with a minimal rehearsal schedule designed to fit easily into student life. Members represent the college with pride wearing comfortable, custom TTMP t-shirts.

    • Marches
    • Standard works
    • New works
    • Swing
    • Funk/Fusion
    • Latin styles
    • And more!

    Regional Performances

Additionally, the Jazz Ensemble will travel to public and private schools to perform for students throughout the region.

    Brass Quintet

The Thiel Brass Quintet is a dynamic, student-led chamber ensemble at Thiel College that brings together talented brass musicians from across campus in a collaborative and engaging performance setting. Featuring the traditional brass quintet instrumentation, the group performs a diverse repertoire spanning classical, contemporary, and popular styles.

As an integral part of Thiel College’s vibrant music program, the ensemble provides students with valuable opportunities to refine their musicianship, develop ensemble skills, and explore artistic expression in an intimate setting. The Thiel Brass Quintet regularly performs at campus events, recitals, and community functions, sharing the energy and versatility of brass chamber music with audiences both on and off campus.
