GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College’s most recent Day of Giving generated a record level of support, with 104 donors contributing a total of $38,834.94 to advance student scholarships, academic programs and campus priorities. The College participated as part of the National Day of Giving, which brings together institutions and organizations across the country to encourage philanthropy and community impact.
Strategic donor challenges helped drive participation and momentum throughout the day. An initial $5,000 challenge, promoted through social media and a Mailchimp mass email ahead of Giving Tuesday, encouraged supporters to reach a goal of 75 donors to unlock the matching funds and jump-start giving.
A second $5,000 challenge, introduced on Giving Tuesday and also promoted through social media and email, called for an additional 25 donors to reach a total of 100 donors. That challenge inspired gifts at a wide range of dollar amounts and helped push the campaign past both participation and fundraising benchmarks.
Thiel College students also played an important role in the campaign by appearing in several promotional videos shared on social media, helping highlight the impact of giving and encouraging engagement from alumni and friends of the College.
“The generosity of our supporters continues to make a tremendous difference,” said David Mogle, director of the Thiel Fund. “Donors are having a tremendous impact on the College through their gifts, directly supporting our students and strengthening Thiel’s ability to deliver a high-quality, personalized education.”
The combined efforts resulted in the highest number of Giving Tuesday donors and the largest total raised for the College through the annual Day of Giving, annually the first Tuesday in December, reflecting strong engagement from alumni, friends, faculty, staff and other supporters.
