GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College’s Master of Business Administration students recently showcased their marketing expertise by presenting innovative strategies to the Primary Health Network Charitable Foundation. As part of their Foundations of Marketing course, the students met with PHNCF’s head of marketing on February 27 in the Haer Family Science and Arts Connector.

This collaborative initiative was designed to offer creative approaches for improving brand recognition and fundraising efforts at PHNCF. Using comprehensive data collection methods—including a focus group and a survey—the students offered targeted marketing recommendations to strengthen community engagement and support for the organization’s health initiatives.

Key strategies emphasized the use of digital marketing, enhanced community involvement, and data-informed decision-making. Proposals included expanded use of social media platforms, strategic partnerships with local organizations, and campaigns tailored to specific community health needs. The collaboration highlights Thiel College’s commitment to real-world learning and to preparing graduates for leadership in the healthcare sector.

Building on this commitment, Thiel College will host an upcoming event titled “Turbulence in the Nonprofit Healthcare Industry: Navigating the Financial Challenges,” on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 6–8:30 p.m. in Stamm Hall of the James Pedas Communication Center on campus.

The lecture will address the pressing financial challenges facing nonprofit healthcare providers, including staff shortages, rising costs, cybersecurity threats, reimbursement changes, health equity, and competition from alternative care models. It is free and open to the public, including college and high school students and their advisors.

Featured speakers include:

  • George C. Garrow, M.D., Chief Executive Officer for Primary Health Network, a veteran physician and healthcare administrator.
  • Carl Sizler, Chief Financial Officer of Primary Health Network, a CPA with a business and accounting background from Penn State University.

This event is part of the Thiel College MBA program's effort to link theory with practice through community engagement. Sponsored by the Arthur McGonigal Department of Business Administration and Accounting, the lecture series enhances students’ learning experiences by connecting them with current industry issues and professionals.

Thiel College continues to expand its healthcare education offerings. In addition to its MBA program, the College recently added a Healthcare Administration major, further demonstrating its dedication to preparing students for in-demand careers in the healthcare industry. Programs emphasize hands-on learning, industry connections, and real-world projects that benefit both students and the community.
