Thiel College names Michelene Orteza as Director of Langenheim Memorial Library

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College has appointed Michelene Orteza, the former interim director, as the new Director of Langenheim Memorial Library.

Orteza has a decade of experience in libraries. As Interim Director of the Langenheim Memorial Library, she oversaw library operations, budgeting, and staff supervision, while continuing her role as Cataloging and Reference Librarian. She originally came to Thiel in 2020 as the Circulation Librarian. In 2023, Orteza was recognized for her efforts with a Distinguished Staff Award.

Orteza was a semantic indexer at Alexander Street, a division of ProQuest, and a librarian and textbook manager at Laurel Technical Institute before coming to Thiel College. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music from West Virginia University and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She also serves as Music Director at Christ Lutheran Church in Sharon, Pa.
