GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College has announced the promotion of four faculty members to the rank of full professor. The promotions recognize their academic contributions and service to the College.
Associate Dean of Academic Success and Professor of Sociology Jared M. Hanneman, Ph.D. has been with Thiel since 2014. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Miami University of Ohio (2000), his Master of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh (2003), and his Ph.D. from the City University of New York (2014).
Director of the Dietrich Honors Institute, Kenneth ’31 and Marianna Brown ’32 Dietrich Honors Institute Chair and Professor of History Sheila Nowinski, Ph.D. joined Thiel College in 2015. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Boston College (2002), a D.E.C. from Université catholique de Louvain in Belgium (2003), and her Master of Arts (2008) and Ph.D. (2012) from the University of Notre Dame. As Director of the Dietrich Honors Institute, Nowinski oversees honors programming while continuing her work as a historian, and this spring, she was recognized as the endowed chair of the program, too.
Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science Russell B. Richins, Ph.D. has been at Thiel College since 2012. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Weber State University (2004) and both his Master of Science (2006) and Ph.D. (2010) from the University of Utah.
Professor of Physics Eugene T. Torigoe, Ph.D. joined Thiel College in 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science from Binghamton University (2001) and earned a Master of Science (2002) and Ph.D. (2008) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Torigoe also serves as the chair of the faculty.
These promotions reflect the faculty members' contributions to their academic departments and to the broader Thiel College community.
