Eleven students recognized as valedictorians for Thiel College’s Class of 2023

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Eleven members of the Class of 2023 received valedictorian honors during Thiel College’s 149th Commencement on May 7 in the William A. Memorial Passavant Center.

Students who graduate with a perfect 4.0 grade point average are awarded valedictorian honors and were also summa cum laude honorees. The valedictorians were:

  • Alexander Andreozzi ’23, of Lebanon, Pa., is a business administration and philosophy major and a 2019 Cedar Crest High School graduate.
  • Matt Beuermann ’23, of Devonport, Tasmania, Australia, is an English and communications studies major and a 2017 Don College graduate.
  • Evan Gerber ’23, of Hartstown, Pa., is a business administration and accounting major and a 2019 Conneaut Area Senior High School graduate.
  • Zoe Heckathorn ’23, of Franklin, Pa., is an environmental science major and a 2019 Rocky Grove High School graduate.
  • Raquel McDonald ’23, of East Syracuse, N.Y., is a criminal justice, psychology, and sociology major and a 2019 Bishop Grimes Jr./Sr. High School graduate.
  • Kaylee Suarez ’23, of Youngstown, Ohio, is a psychology major and a 2019 Mineral Ridge High School graduate.
  • Gianna Tofani ’23, of Transfer, Pa., is an early childhood and special education major and a 2020 Reynolds High School graduate.
  • Noah Toy ’23, of Greenville, Pa., is a history major with a certificate in secondary education and a 2019 Greenville Senior High School graduate.
  • Hallie Vogt ’23, of Lake City, Pa., is a business administration major and a 2019 Girard High School graduate.
  • Sarah Wakley ’23, of North East, Pa., is an early childhood and special education major and a 2019 North East High School graduate.
  • Madison Walsh ’23, of Monongahela, Pa., is a political science and sociology major with a certificate in English and a 2019 Ringgold High School graduate.

Bethany Bonnar ’23 was named the salutatorian. Bonnar of Beaver, Pa., is a public relations, advertising and integrated marketing communication, political science, and public policy triple major and a 2019 Beaver Area High School graduate.

Former Chair of the College’s Board of Trustees and local entrepreneur John Hudson received an honorary doctorate degree during the ceremony. Professor of Business Administration and Accounting and David M. Miller Endowed Chair of Accounting Gary Witosky ’79 delivered the keynote address, which focused on the impact that alumni have on Thiel and future generations of alumni. Witosky, along with former Professor of Religion and Faculty Chair Daniel F. Eppley, Ph.D., were awarded emeritus status. Hunter Gray ’23, a math major with a secondary education certificate from Pittsburgh, Pa., delivered the senior address.
