Alumni and friends from around the world can celebrate the Thiel’s first online Homecoming

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College is making history with its first virtual and online Homecoming celebration this year, themed “The Roaring Twenties,” with activities that started Monday and are continuing through Oct. 11.

Thiel College presents the Roaring Twenties Homecoming 2020 virtual celebration through a week-long list of online and pre-recorded activities.

The Homecoming celebration will include a long list of events to be held at varying times throughout each day of the week. Special online conversations with Thiel College’s 20th president Susan Traverso, Ph.D., Emeritus Professor of Business David Miller ’61, H’20 and football coach Mike Winslow ’04 are scheduled. A social media scavenger hunt, Roaring Twenties-themed costume party, announcement of new Thiel Connect online platform and online collection of videos from previous Thiel College homecomings began Monday.

A virtual paint and sip, trivia murder party and numerous other activities will be among the entertaining events offered to students, alumni, and friends of the college through online links provided on the Thiel website.

“Our staff has put together a fun, engaging and exciting list of events, get-togethers, meetings and reunions for the members of our 15,000-plus member network to connect through,” Thiel College Vice President of Advancement Roberta Leonard said. “The Thiel College community is resilient and dedicated, and I am pleased with the interest that has already been shown and expect that enthusiasm will continue through the weekend.”

On Oct. 8, the annual tradition of National Thiel Spirit Day takes on greater significance as Tomcats from around the country will be sharing photos of themselves on social media in their favorite Thiel-themed apparel. Appropriate to the Roaring Twenties theme, the College will present a movie watch party to view The Great Gatsby at 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8. Earlier that day, participants may witness the cooking skills of campus pastor Brian Riddle ’07 or join a book discussion with several hosts including campus librarian Allen Morrill.

On Friday, Chris Cianci ’96 and Patty Alfredo will present an online “Corona Conversation” and DJ Charlie Brown ’82 will host an online radio show and reunion on Saturday, Oct. 10. Dozens of other events will be available for participants to experience.
