GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College’s new Bachelor of Science in nutrition program is featured in the June issue of North Hills Monthly, a regional lifestyle magazine serving the northern Pittsburgh suburbs. The cover story includes insights from program director Katheryn E. Willey and explores growing interest in nutrition, wellness and health care careers.

The feature introduces readers to Thiel’s newest academic offering and highlights the program’s focus on preparing students for careers in nutrition, dietetics, community health and related health professions. Through Willey’s perspective, the article examines the growing role nutrition plays in preventive health care and overall well-being. It also describes the growing opportunities for nutrition professionals, according to a nutrition staff member for Allegheny Health Network.

The first students will begin in Fall 2026. The program provides students with a strong foundation in nutritional science while helping them develop the knowledge and practical skills needed for careers in health care, wellness, public health and graduate study.

Willey was an adjunct in the College’s nursing program and is now leading the nutrition program. A registered dietitian nutritionist and certified diabetes care and education specialist, she brings extensive experience in clinical nutrition, diabetes management and patient education.

The feature showcases Thiel's newest academic initiative to one of western Pennsylvania’s largest population centers. North Hills Monthly serves readers throughout the North Hills region of Allegheny County and neighboring communities, including Wexford, Cranberry Township, McCandless, Hampton, Pine Township and surrounding areas.

Founded in 2003, the publication focuses on health, education, business, community and lifestyle topics relevant to residents of the Pittsburgh region. According to the magazine, its monthly print and digital readership exceeds 40,000, with thousands of copies distributed throughout northern Allegheny and southern Butler counties.

The nutrition program reflects Thiel College’s continued investment in health sciences education and its commitment to preparing graduates for careers that address emerging workforce and community needs.
