GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College sophomore biology, environmental science and conservation biology triple major Alana Rudolf ’27, completed a 21-day immersive field studies program in the Caribbean, where she engaged directly with marine ecosystems, applying classroom knowledge in a real-world environment.
The Ecosystem Field Studies Program offers students an opportunity to study abroad in diverse ecological settings, connecting academic concepts with hands-on experience. Director of the program, Steve Johnson, commended Rudolf, calling her “an exceptional and highly motivated student who represented Thiel College well and achieved a consistently high level of work.”
Reflecting on her time in the program, Rudolf said, “This program gave me a life changing experience as it allowed me the chance to live in the ecosystem I was studying and engage with it firsthand. Being surrounded by not only the environment, but also like-minded individuals made the experience more impactful and enjoyable! It helped me discover my passions and gave me a truly rewarding experience I will never forget.”
Rudolf is from Springdale, Pa. and is a 2023 graduate of Springdale High School. She is a member of the women’s soccer team where she played in 14 games this season and started six of them.
