Honeycutt and Stilts named Thiel College Student of the Month honorees for November

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College announces Cynthia “Grace” Honeycutt ’25, of Edinboro, Pa., and Bailey Stilts ’25, of Elkland, Pa., as its Students of the Month for November.

This prestigious honor is awarded exclusively to seniors, with only six students recognized each semester.

Honeycutt, a philosophy minor and English major, graduated from General McLane High School 2021. She is passionate about teaching English as a Second Language abroad and plans to pursue a master’s degree. At Thiel, she is actively involved in the Dietrich Honors Institute, Women Inspiring the Next Generation, and the Creative Writing Club. As Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Lectern, Thiel’s undergraduate research journal, she also leads Sigma Tau Delta (the English honor society) and serves as an English conversation coach.

“My experience at Thiel has been life changing. Over four years, I’ve grown personally, academically, and professionally through experiences that transformed my worldview,” Honeycutt said.

She cites Assistant Professor of English Sheila M. Gross, Ph.D. ’10, Professor of English Mary Theresa Hall, Ph.D., and Career Development Center Director Liza Schaef as influential mentors. Honeycutt is grateful for their support in helping her develop her ideas, discover her passion for English, and grow both personally and professionally.

Honeycutt is the daughter of Mary Beth and Anthony Honeycutt of Edinboro, Pa..

Stilts is a computer science major who graduated from Cowanesque Valley High School in 2021. He enjoys writing and is currently working on a screenplay for his Dietrich Honors Institute thesis. After graduation, he intends to pursue a career in software development.

Stilts is a Circle K member who has contributed to several club service projects. He is also a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon, an educational honors organization that helped raise funds for the Good Shepherd through the Challenge 24 event (a math game competition).

“I learned not only a lot from the classes that I took, but also learned a lot about life and the person who I want to become,” Stilts said. “I have also made a good number of lifelong friendships that I hope to carry past graduation.”

He is the son of Corey and Tammy Stilts, of Elkland, Pa.

Stilts wishes to thank and recognize Director of Theatre JK Rogers, Ph.D. for her contribution to his college experience.

“Ever since freshman year, she has always pushed me to do my best both academically and with the activities that I participate in. She is always there if I am stressed and need someone to talk to. She has helped me through a lot of crucial decisions and events that I went through in college,” Stilts said. “She cares about her students and is someone that is always helping you to be the best person that you can be.”
