GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Director of Patient Care Susan Calderbank, D.M.D. was among several professionals who were recognized for making an impact as a role model for high school and college students through her professional achievements and commitment to civic engagement. She was honored at the third annual Thiel College Mentor of the Year Awards.
Calderbank was presented with the 2024 Leah Dever ’74 Women in STEM Professional of the Year Award.
The event recognizes extraordinary professional and civic contributions, celebrating the deep connections they foster within the community. Overall, six educators and six professionals from the arts; business; media, science, technology, engineering, math; education; and were recognized this year.
Calderbank (pictured above with her presenter, Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D.) is a general dentist and maintained a private practice for more than 40 years. She is the former Chair of the Pennsylvania State Board of Dental Examiners. Calderbank has lectured both nationally and internationally on the Dental Care of the Cancer Patient and has been awarded the Pennsylvania Dental Association Special Public Service Award in recognition of her commitment to raising awareness of the oral complications of cancer therapies.
