GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College was accepted to participate in the Council of Independent Colleges/Association of College and University Educators program Belong: An Inclusive Learning Community. This program aligns with both the Thiel 2026 strategic plan, and recent changes from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education that now embed diversity, equity, and inclusion language throughout the standards of the College’s accreditation.
The opening presentation in the Belong program was held on February 28. A public viewing for members of the Thiel community was available in Bly Hall of the Academic Center.
Later this spring, Vice President for Student Life and Athletics and Dean of Students Mike McKinney, Ed.D. ’02 and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Greg Q. Butcher, Ph.D. will be organizing additional sessions to support this program.
‘It Takes a Village’ is the first of Belong’s live quarterly webinar series featuring DEI practitioners and experts that address issues of inclusivity and belonging, introducing practical approaches that can be implemented right away. The interactive 60-minute webinar provided faculty, staff, and administrators with practical approaches to mitigate unintended bias in everyday interactions with students and each other.
