GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College Professor of English and Department Chair Jared Johnson, Ph.D. recently spoke at the 47th Annual Ohio Valley Shakespeare Conference.

The conference, titled "Shakespeare and the Mind," featured national and international speakers on a wide range of Shakespeare-related issues, including teaching, adaptation, psychoanalysis, and cognitive literary studies.

Johnson’s paper, entitled “‘Redeeming time when men least think I will’: Loki’s Henrician Redemption in Marvel Studios’ Loki” examines Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of Prince Hal in the BBC’s “The Hollow Crown” (2013) in relation to his recurring role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a focus on the final season of “Loki” (2023).

This year, Case Western Reserve University hosted the Ohio Valley Shakespeare Conference on October 24-26.

Johnson has a B.A. in English and philosophy from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla., an M.A. in English from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., and a Ph.D. in English and cultural studies from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
