GREENVILLE, Pa.-- This year’s “All-Star” themed Homecoming starts Thursday, September 22 with online and Greenville events and wraps up through the weekend with a full slate of fun and traditional events.
The Homecoming parade will begin on Saturday, September 24 at 1:45 p.m. and will replicate last year’s new route. Starting in Riverside Park, the parade will head south, meet up with Alan Avenue and merge with North Race Street. The parade will turn left onto Shenango Street, then left onto North Mercer Street. From there, the parade will turn right onto Eagle Street, before turning left onto College Avenue and finishing in front of campus.
Thiel also invites alumni, students, staff, and friends to celebrate and participate in the wide array of activities and events that the weekend will also have to offer. The Alumni Awards Luncheon will be held in the Lutheran Heritage Room at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24. The football game will follow the parade, with Thiel hosting Carnegie Mellon University at 3 p.m. in Alumni Stadium. There will also be a service of Remembrance on Sunday, September 25 at 11 a.m. As part of the football game and parade, area elementary school students who participated in the national runner-up cheer team’s Lil’ Scratchers camp this summer will march in the parade and perform at halftime. At halftime of the football game, the undefeated 1972 football team will celebrate its 50th anniversary season.
In its third year, the world-wide online meeting will bring together alumni from around the globe to take place at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Office of Admission is also hosting a Legacy Visit Day where Thiel alumni can share the Thiel experience with family members in the morning and then stay on campus and in town to enjoy the many Homecoming activities.
