GREENVILLE, Pa.—In a year that was unlike any other in the College’s history, it was still stories about student and institutional achievements that were among some of the most popular items in the Thiel College Newsroom in 2020. The following are the Top 10 stories based on the number of views in the Thiel College Newsroom, media attention and social media impact.
Sept. 21/ Thiel College was ranked as the top school in northwestern Pennsylvania overall and recognized for the social mobility of its graduates among the Regional Colleges in the North in the 36th edition of U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges rankings.
Aug. 19/ Three Thiel College students will do their student teaching at Greenville High School this fall.
May 4/ Four members of the Thiel College Class of 2020 received valedictorian and salutatorian honors as part of the College’s celebration of its graduating class. Angela Campbell ’20, Mariel Hanely ’20 and Nash Matson ’20 earned valedictorian honors with perfect 4.0 grade point averages, while Matthew Crawford ’20 was salutatorian.
June 3/ Thiel College’s new Master of Business Administration program began with its first classes in July. The program also includes a path for non-business majors to acquire a sought-after business credential.
July 24/ Nicholas Samson was named the director of bands and choir at Thiel College. Samson oversees music groups on campus as well as teaching within the Department of Music and Theatre. Samson is the ninth director in the choir’s 68-year history.
May 26/ Thiel College announced its plans to resume in-person campus instruction the fall. Following the guidelines and recommendations of the Pennsylvania departments of Health and Education, the Governor’s office, and federal agencies, the College implemented a new schedule for the fall semester, enhancing its technological capacity, and establishing new health and safety protocols.
Aug. 14/ The ad debuted in 2019, but one year later, the readers in the Thiel College Newsroom still love the ad. Thiel College was featured prominently in Coca-Cola’s college football advertising campaign that debuted Saturday morning on ESPN’s broadcast of “College Game Day.”
Jan. 7/ Two-hundred-eighty-six students were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2019 semester.
May 19/ Three-hundred-fifty students were named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2020 semester.
May 8/ An in-person ceremony might have been put on hold, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of Thiel College Newsroom readers who checked in to read the list of graduates following the spring 2020 academic semester.
