Fox Chapel High School student earns full ride worth $125,000

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania, awarded a full tuition scholarship worth $125,000 to Fox Chapel High School senior Sydnee Pilarski.

Representatives from the Thiel College Office of Admission visited Pilarski at her school at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to present her with a check representing the financial aid award as a result of her exceptional performance in high school and at a scholarship competition held Dec. 2.

“Sydnee Pilarski stood out when she came to campus for the scholarship competition,” Vice President of Enrollment Management Ashley Josay Zullo said. “She clearly and effectively demonstrated her motivation to learn and her abilities in leadership and service, which is exactly what we look for in Thiel students.”

In 2016, Pilarski was inducted into the National Honor Society for excellence in scholarship, service to her school and community, leadership, and character. She lists her brother, Jacob Pilarski, a 2016 Fox Chapel graduate and baseball player at Virginia Wesleyan University, as a large part of her inspiration.

Pilarski is interested in majoring in integrated marketing communications at Thiel. In O’Hara Township, where she lives with her parents, Pilarski participates in her church, in her school’s AP art program and honors choir. She is interested in Thiel’s equestrian activities. Pilarski is the daughter of Melinda and Christopher Pilarski, of O’Hara Township, Pa.
