GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College announces Rebecca Adams ’18, of Hermitage, Pa., and Sarah McConnell ’18, of Blairsville, Pa., as its December Students of the Month.
Adams, a 2014 graduate of Mercer Area Junior/Senior High School, is an actuarial studies, business administration and accounting triple major with a minor in mathematics.
Following graduation, Adams plans to work as an accountant or actuary.
She is a feature twirler for the Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride and a member of the business and accounting club, Chi Eta Sigma business honorary society, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. She is president of Kappa Mu Epsilon, the math honorary society, and a participant in Thiel College’s Relay for Life. She also volunteers with the Hermitage Goodfellows.
She is a daughter of John and Linda Adams, of Hermitage, Pa.
McConnell, a 2014 graduate of The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, is a double major in history and computer science. After graduating from Thiel, she will pursue a doctorate in history and teach in higher education.
McConnell is president of Phi Alpha Theta history honorary society and vice president of Kappa Mu Epsilon math honor society. She is a member of the service honorary, Les Laurier. McConnell has presented historical research at several professional conferences and won a Thiel College Library Research Award in 2016. As a sophomore, she interned with the National Park Service at Appomattox Courthouse National Historical Park.
McConnell is the daughter of Dennis and Bonnie McConnell, of Ashland, Neb.
The Student of the Month is awarded to seniors. It is among the most prestigious student awards at Thiel College, with only about six students each semester earning the honor.
