GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania, awarded a full tuition scholarship worth $125,000 to Eisenhower Junior-Senior High School senior Mitchell Angove.
Representatives from the Thiel College Office of Admission visited Angove at his school Thursday, Dec. 14 to present him with a check representing the financial aid award for his exceptional performance in high school and at a scholarship competition held on Dec. 2.
“Mitchell Angove’s performance in the scholarship competition was impressive,” Vice President of Enrollment Management Ashley Josay Zullo said. “He is the kind of motivated student we are looking for because of all he has accomplished in high school, his vision for the future and his hard-working attitude.”
Angove is interested in majoring in biology at Thiel, and will participate in the Dietrich Honors Institute. He would like to join the ski and equestrian clubs at Thiel, and hopes to study abroad. At Eisenhower, he participated in academic bowl, book club, AV club, and Environthon. Angove is the son of Scott and Kimberly Angove, of Russell, Pa.
“(Mitchell) has learned to be his own advocate and speak up for himself,” his mother, Kimberly, said. “He goes for what he wants and is very determined. He has overcome so (much) to be where he is now, and we are very proud of him!”
