Fort Cherry senior surprised with $141,000 scholarship during event at his school

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Fort Cherry High School senior Jordan Wilhoit was awarded an academic scholarship worth $141,000 to Thiel College during a surprise presentation Thursday, Jan. 20 at his high school.

Wilhoit, of McDonald, Pa., was one of five winners for 2022. Nevaeh Haskins, Dayton, Ohio; James Cromwell-Young, of Virginia Beach, Va.; Toby Atwood, of Kittanning, Pa.; and Alexis Brown, of Chesterland, Ohio were the first recipients. Wilhoit won the scholarship based on his performance at a scholarship competition with about 150 other applicants in late 2021.

He is the son of Brian Wilhoit and is the brother of Bailey and Josh.

He plans to study biochemistry at Thiel College.

Wilhoit has won the President’s Education Award in grades 8–11. In previous years, he was active in chorus and encore programs. He also participated in the yearbook and foreign language club and has volunteered at the local library.
