GREENVILLE, Pa.—Ava Tomcho, of Union City, Pa., has been awarded a Dean’s Scholarship to attend Thiel College.
The Dean’s Scholarship, worth $12,000 over four years, is awarded annually to five incoming students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership and community involvement.
Tomcho is a student at Union City Area High School and plans to enroll in Thiel College’s five-year Speech-Language Pathology program in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
At Union City Area High School, Tomcho was active in athletics and student leadership. She served as captain of the golf team and competed in track and field. Tomcho is also a member of the National Honor Society and was active in the Girls Varsity Club, serving as secretary during her junior year and treasurer as a senior.
She also held leadership roles in student council, serving as treasurer, and participated in several organizations including Friends of Rachel Club, Student Impact, and the IU5 Talent Search program.
Tomcho is the daughter of Shelly Tomcho and Jamie Tom and has a brother, Aiden Tomcho.
