GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College junior business administration major and entrepreneur Anna Kavulla ’27, of Sharpsville, Pa., had her banner design chosen to represent the 138th Annual Columbiana Street Fair.
Originally created as part of an extra credit assignment in her Introduction to Marketing class, Kavulla’s design was selected by the fair’s director for its vibrant and festive style, which perfectly captured the spirit of the community event.

Kavulla, a 2023 home-school graduate, had her artwork was displayed at the Columbiana, Ohio event to promote the fair that was held in early September. Kavulla and her sister, Ava ’25, who is a 2025 Thiel College graduate run, A Pastel Petal, which specializes in handcrafted watercolor art, calligraphy, stationery, greeting cards, stickers, tote bags, and custom designs.
Columbiana Street Fair Director Jacob Sevek said Kavulla’s design stood out for its fun and festive energy while clearly communicating the event’s key details.
“She did a fantastic job incorporating the elements that we made part of the design contest,” Sevek said.
Sevek added that the Columbiana Street Fair holds a special place in the hearts of residents.
“The Annual Columbiana Street Fair matters because it is a homecoming-type event for the community,” he said. “It allows friends and family, old and new, to get together and enjoy a fun fair. You never know who you may run into during the fair, and that’s part of what makes us the ‘State Fair of Street Fairs!”
Kavulla’s professor, Steven Kandray, said the project was originally introduced to give students a chance to apply marketing and design principles in a real-world context.
The Columbiana Street Fair is one of Ohio’s oldest community traditions, celebrating 138 years of food, fun, and fellowship in the heart of Columbiana.
