Thiel College’s Sigma Phi Epsilon given award for excellence in member development

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- The Thiel College chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon was honored with the Donald C. McCleary Award for Excellence in Member Development during the fraternity’s Carlson Leadership Academy in Pittsburgh in late January.

The award recognizes chapters with outstanding member development programs that actively engage brothers throughout all four challenges of the Balanced Man Program while incorporating volunteers and content experts from their campus and community, according to Sigma Phi Epsilon’s website.

The Thiel College Sigma Phi Epsilon Executive Board attended the event, which took place at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square from January 24–25. The board members in attendance included:

• Kyle Benson ’27, a sophomore information systems web development major from Roaming Shores, Ohio.
• Luca DiRienzo ’27, a sophomore history major from Meadville, Pa.
• Myron Malson ’28, a first-year business administration sports management major from Barboursville, Va.
• Trenton McCoy ’28, a first-year political science major from Salem, Ohio.
• Hayden McDowell ’28, a first-year environmental safety management major from Winchester, Va.
• Kaleb McDowell ’26, a junior computer science major from Winchester, Va.
• Samuel Prokopchak ’28, a first-year business administration major from McMurray, Pa.
• Ryan Reed ’28, a first-year busines adminstration sports management major from New Windsor, Md.

The Carlson Leadership Academy is Sigma Phi Epsilon’s premier leadership program, bringing together undergraduates, volunteers, and national headquarters staff to exchange ideas and best practices.
