Thiel College to showcase pieces from its private collection during exhibition of prints

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College Professor of Painting and Curator of Art Sean McConnor announces the Weyers-Sampson Art Gallery will launch its 2021—2022 exhibition schedule with a talk by Marlin Casker at noon Wednesday, Sept. 8.

The exhibition “Points of View” includes pieces from the Thiel College permanent collection. Casker will discuss 20th-century prints, which are characterized by creative expressions reflective of the mood, reality, and truth of the experiences had by people during the tumultuous times of societal change in the twentieth century, art of this time in both Europe and America contributed to movements that are familiar today. These include cubism, surrealism, futurism, constructivism and abstraction, which led to abstract expressionism before the rise of pop art.

The exhibit will run from Sept. 8 to Oct. 8 and will display works reflective of the wide range of art that resulted from the ideas and viewpoints of the 20th century.
