GREENVILLE, Pa.-- The Thiel College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Department of Athletics hosted the third annual Tommys Sunday night at the William A. Passavant Center.
The event recognizes individual and team athletic achievements, as well as academic success and service in the community, eight major awards were voted on and distributed by members of Thiel’s SAAC.
Among the highlights were the celebrations of Jared Curcio ’24 and Ashlyn Wightman ’24 as athletics MVPs. The Thiel College Counseling Center and Melanie Broadwater ’96 and Jodi Witherite were singled out for special recognition.
Head cheer coach Randall Burnett M.A.’22 and assistant coach McKenna Mizer M.S.’24 were named the coaching staff of the year and the men's volleyball team coach coach by Dylan Lasher ’15 was named the Team of the Year.
The football team won the Moment of the Year for its win 15-14 win over Waynesburg when quarterback Joey Fell ’27 scored with a little more than two minutes left.
Fell and Arin DeLattre ’27 were named Newcomers of the Year. Chase Lawler ’25 and Taylor Susany ’25 were named top dual-sport athletes.
