Thiel College seniors Sams, Paci named March Students of the Month

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College announces Jacob Paci ’20 and Crystal Sams ’20 as its Students of the Month for March.

Sams, of Emporium, Pa., and Paci, of Malden, Pa., were chosen as the honorees by a committee of faculty and staff members based on their academic, civic and philanthropic involvement.

Paci is a 2016 graduate of Bethlehem Center High School and is pursuing a double major in criminal justice and political science with a double minor in legal studies and sociology. He is a member of the Dietrich Honors Institute, the political science honorary society Pi Sigma Alpha, Lambda Sigma Honor Society for sophomores and the Outdoor Recreation Club. He works as a resident assistant in Stewart Residence Hall and as the student assistant for the political science department. He is also a peer tutor, tutoring in criminal justice, sociology and political science.

Paci is the son of Mark and Dana Paci, of Malden, Pa.

Sams is a 2016 graduate of Cameron County Junior-Senior High School and an early childhood education and special education major. She is involved with the education honorary society Kappa Delta Pi, Lambda Sigma Honor Society for sophomores, Alpha Chi academic honor society, and Les Lauriers service and leadership honor society for seniors. She is also a member of the Dietrich Honors Institute.

As a member of the education honorary, Sams has participated in several community events, including Math and Science Night at Greenville Elementary School. In addition, she has volunteered with the local backpack program for the past three years where she helped pack bags of snacks for students who may not get as much food at home on the weekends.

Her parents are Tanya and Frank Bates, of Emporium, Pa.
