GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College announces Macey Garland ’20, of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, and Gage Gladysz ’20, of Greenville, Pa., as its October Students of the Month.
Garland, a 2016 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School, is a religion major.
Following graduation, Garland will attend Youngstown State University’s school psychology master’s degree program and also intern with the United Way.
She is a member of the Theta Alpha Kappa national religious studies and theology honorary society. She is secretary of the Les Lauriers scholarship, leadership and service honor society, and is a member of the Thiel Student Support Network.
Garland founded a nonprofit that creates funding for local underprivileged youth while providing school supplies, athletic equipment, food and holiday gifts. She volunteers weekly at Strayhaven, a Greenville-area no-kill animal shelter.
Garland’s parents, Brian and Brenda Garland, live in Mineral Ridge, Ohio.
Gladysz, a 2016 graduate of Greenville High School, is double major in neuroscience and psychology. He plans to attend graduate school to earn his Ph.D. in clinical psychology/neuropsychology.
He is vice president of Nu Rho Psi national neuroscience honor society and member of the wrestling and rugby teams. He also volunteers for the Lions club.
Gladysz is the son of Greg and Missy Gladysz, of Greenville, Pa.
The Student of the Month is awarded to seniors. It is among the most prestigious student awards at Thiel College, with only about six students each semester earning the honor.
