Thiel College hosting second Pennsylvania DCNR “Caring for the Woods” workshop

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College is hosting a workshop led by Pennsylvania environmental agencies to help residents learn about and care for the land around them on Saturday, January 20 in Bly Hall of the Academic Center.

The “Caring for the Woods” workshop is from 8 a.m. to noon and will feature speakers from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Game Commission and the state's Natural Heritage Program.

Registration is free but is required.

Workshop schedule

8:30 a.m. Welcome and introductions

8:45 a.m. “Build it and They Will Come” forester Dave Cole, Pa. Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry. 

9:30 a.m. break

9:45 a.m. “Beavers: Our Busiest Ecosystem Engineers,” wildlife technician Heather Flick, Pa. Game Commission.

11 a.m. “Ecology and Management of Old Growth Forests in Pennsylvania” ecologist Jaci Braund, Pa. Natural Heritage Program. 

11:30 a.m. Closing

11:45 Optional winter walk across campus.
