GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College students in Professor of Business Administration and Accounting Angelo Giannini’s strategic management class presented on Dec. 11 to the Mercer County Trails Association as the culmination of a semester-long project to help the trails group with marketing, fundraising and right-of-way issues.
The class’s business plan was presented to Trails Association President Fred Kizer, a 1966 graduate of Thiel College, and association member Caitlyn Struthers. The plan has three components: marketing the association to the community, raising money to finance the construction of the remaining bike paths, and the right-of-way issues to current property owners.
The overall project manager was Jason Thorp ’18. He was responsible to ensure the final plan met the objectives of the Mercer County Trails Association.
Christian McElhaney ’18 was the team leader of the right-of-way team consisting of Bradi Osborn ’19, Tanner Teconchuk ’18, Murphy Wood ’18 and Brennan O’Shea ’19. The team’s portion of the plan related to deed searches, community involvement, and incentives.
Lucas Basko ’18 was the team leader of the finance group composed of Greg Galbo ’18, Greg Strohmeyer ’18, Andrew Casile ’18 and Hayden Kaizen ’18. This team presented a plan centering on business donations, accessing foundations, government grants, developing forums and utilizing the Trail Fork website.
Charles McQuone ’18 was the team leader of the marketing group which included Franziska Ludwigs ’21, Kristen Tate ’18, Joshua Lumbus ’18 and Yi Shi ’18. The team’s section of the plan centered on developing a radio ad, brochures, flyers and putting the association on TripAdvisor.
