Sigma Kappa national sorority recognizes Thiel College graduate with position and scholarship

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College graduate Annika Schul ’19 was chosen for a pair of honors by the national organization of her sorority Sigma Kappa. She is undergoing training at Sigma Kappa’s national headquarters in Carmel, Ind. for her position as a leadership consultant with the organization.

Schul, of State College, Pa., earned her degree in early childhood education and special education at Thiel College and will travel the country visiting a new collegiate sorority chapter every five to seven days to provide assistance to the chapters. Her duties will vary with each visit, but some areas of focus will include recruitment, chapter officer training and workshops

“Thanks to the leadership skills I developed through my time at Thiel, I have been hired as a leadership consultant for Sigma Kappa sorority. I will work to bring Sigma Kappa’s national standards, processes and values to chapters by serving as an ongoing leadership presence and resource for those chapters,” Schul said. “Helping them maintain our high standards of excellence and integrity will ensure that every sister has the opportunity of experiencing Sigma Kappa sisterhood at its fullest and finest.”

For the second straight year, Schul, a 2015 graduate of Keystone National High School, was awarded $10,000 from the Elizabeth Hunt Curfman Scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year. Schul plans to get her masters’ degree from Gannon University in Erie, Pa. The endowment’s purpose is to provide scholarships for initiated senior or graduate members of Sigma Kappa. To be eligible, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, be an education major, exhibit financial need and show outstanding leadership.

Schul is the daughter of Scott and Linda Schul, of State College, Pa.
