Seven graduates earn top honors at Thiel College’s 144th Commencement Exercises

GREENVILLE, Pa.--
Six members of the Thiel College Class of 2018 earned valedictorian honors and one received salutatorian honors at the 144th Commencement Exercises, which were held Sunday, May 6 in the College’s William A. Passavant Memorial Center.
Crystal Carradine ’18, Tina Kramer ’18, Kyle Marini ’18, Samuel Sesti III ’18, John Thiel ’18, and Hanna Todaro ’18 all shared valedictorian honors with perfect 4.0 grade point averages. Nicholas Sarratori ’18 was named salutatorian.
- Carradine, of Girard, Ohio, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and majored in biology. She was a member of the Dietrich Honors Institute. Carradine is a 2014 graduate of Liberty High School.
- Kramer, of Butler, Pa., graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and majored in English and psychology. She is a candidate for the Pennsylvania Department of Education Teacher Certification and is a 2014 graduate of Butler Area Senior High School.
- Marini, of Greenville, Pa., graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and majored in fine art with a second individualized major in Spanish. Marini was a member of the Dietrich Honors Institute. He is a 2014 graduate of Greenville Senior High School.
- Sesti, of Avalon, Pa., graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and majored in early childhood education and special education. He was a member of the Dietrich Honors Institute. Sesti is a 2014 graduate of Northgate High School.
- Thiel, of Pickerington, Ohio, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and majored in computer science and mathematics. He was a member of the Dietrich Honors Institute. Thiel is a 2014 graduate of Bishop Hartley High School.
- Todaro, of Hollsopple, Pa., graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and majored in public relations, advertising and integrated marketing communication. She is a 2014 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School.
- Sarratori, of Eden, N.Y., graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and majored in history. Sarratori is a candidate for the Pennsylvania Department of Education Teacher Certification. He is a 2014 graduate of Eden Junior Senior High School.
Students who received the honor of summa cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.8-4.0; students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.60-3.79; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.4-3.59. The valedictorians and salutatorian were among the 39 percent of Thiel's Class of 2018 who were awarded Latin academic honors during the Commencement Exercises, which is above published figures for the national average. Graduates earning a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or higher were awarded cum laude, magna cum laude and summa cum laude.
