Penn-Northwest releases video series produced with students from Thiel’s Pedas Center

GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Penn-Northwest Development Corporation recently released a set of videos that showcase Mercer County businesses and were created in collaboration with Thiel College.

Thiel College students in the James Pedas Communication Center along with Professor of Communication Ross Nugent provided studio, recording and editing help for the Penn-Northwest Development Corporation’s “Discover Mercer County Business” video series.

The first set of videos were released in late May.

Stacey Glenn, of American Hospitality Group; Doug Anderson, of Anderson Coach & Travel; and Tom Roberts, of HopeCAT. The episodes are on Penn-Northwest’s YouTube channel, featured on their social media, and sent out to their members.

“We have plans to tape at least six more episodes,” said Melinda Bowen-Houck, marketing, membership and special events manager at Penn-Northwest Development Corp. “We used the Pedas Center for our Virtual Annual Meeting in November, and the production values coming out of the Pedas Center are world-class.”

Penn-Northwest provides assistance, training, advice, and guidance to agencies and organizations throughout Mercer County and works to help complete priority projects important to the community. Specifically, Penn-Northwest endeavors to reach short-term goals while taking significant steps toward multi-year goals for economic development through new industry recruitment, a local business calling program called B.A.T. (Business Action Team), and local entrepreneurship and workforce development.

“We were extremely impressed with the professionalism of the student camera operators and behind the scenes technicians,” Bowen-Houck said.
