GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Mark Batt ’87, the new Director of Advancement at Thiel College, is running the upcoming annual Department of Athletics Blue-Gold Golf Outing to be held at Avalon at Buhl at 1 p.m. June 13.

As Director of Advancement, Batt will be responsible for cultivating important College and alumni relations and supporting the initiatives of the office of College Advancement.

“I am just very pleased and honored to serve Thiel College in any capacity. Specifically, as Director of Advancement, I am looking forward to continuing to develop our relationships with our alumni, friends and donors of the College,” Batt said. “Together, we can work together to provide a high-quality post-secondary College experience and environment for our students and campus family. “

In his former position as Director of the Thiel Fund, Batt was responsible for planning and running the Match Day events at the college. The three most recent Match Days have been record-setting events. In 2020, 2021, and 2022 Match Day has raised $654,000 in unrestricted funding for the College. Each of the last three set records for either number of participants, donors or amount raised. The Thiel Fund raises money to assist student scholarships, attract and retain high-quality faculty, strengthen athletic programs and intramural activities, and enhance fitness facilities for students. It also ensures the College can provide technology needs for all students and ultimately fulfills the institutional commitment to providing a quality higher education to every student.

“Mark has developed into a vital team member for the Department of Advancement,” Vice President for College Advancement Roberta Leonard said.

Batt was a health and physical education teacher and dean of discipline at Keystone Charter School for 15 years. Additionally, he was employed by L.J. Kuder, Inc.; Gelvin, Jackson and Starr and First National Bank of Pa. in insurance sales for 18 years. Batt received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and sociology from Thiel College in 1987. He is the father of five children, Jessica, Jordan, Alaina, Joe and Amy.
