GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Four Thiel College students will be making their first international trips this summer after they were selected for the Vira I. Heinz Scholarship for Women in Global Leadership.
The scholarship is offered to women with at least a 3.0 GPA, who have never traveled outside of the United States previously. Recipients for this year’s scholarship include:
“I am, as always, very appreciative that Thiel College is involved with the Vira I. Heinz Program for Women in Global Leadership, which provides support for outstanding young women to have an international summer experience supported by excellent pre- and post-travel programming,” VIH Coordinator and Professor of Sociology Cynthia Sutton, Ph.D. said. “This year we are especially lucky to have been awarded a fourth scholarship which will allow an additional young woman to participate in this amazing program. Our students begin this program never having traveled internationally before and complete the program having had an immersive experience in a new country and having gained a new appreciation of their own skills and abilities. I have every confidence that Allison, Jasmine, Kylie, and Paige will be a credit to both Thiel and the VIH program.”
