Environmental science student represents Thiel College at regional environmental symposium

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College student Alana Rudolf ’27 recently presented research from her summer internship during the Student Symposium on the Environment.

Rudolf, an environmental science and conservation biology double major, presented a poster titled “2025 Fledgling Success of Great Lakes Piping Plovers in Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore.” The symposium was held Thursday, Dec. 4 at Westminster College, and brought together students from across the region to share research focused on environmental issues and conservation.

A native of Springdale, Pa., Rudolf is minoring in wildlife biology and is active on campus as a member of the Environmental Club, Zeta Tau Alpha, Lambda Sigma and the women’s soccer team.

In addition to her recent research presentation, Rudolf has gained significant field experience through her academic work. In 2024, the Thiel College sophomore completed a 21-day immersive Ecosystem Field Studies Program in the Caribbean, where she studied marine ecosystems and applied classroom concepts in real-world settings.

Rudolf is a 2023 graduate of Springdale High School. She is also part of the Thiel Team, a group of students employed by the Office of Admission who serve as ambassadors for prospective students and assist with outreach, events and administrative projects.
