GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Angelica Perez-Johnston, director of first-year experience and transition programs at Thiel College, presented at the National Association of Student Personnel Administrator’s 2018 Closing the Achievement Gap Conference recently.
“I feel truly fortunate to be a part of a national conversation regarding the support of underserved student populations, particularly first-generation students,” Perez-Johnston said. “The opportunity to share effective practices that have been implemented at Thiel College, as well as learn about innovative best-practices in supporting students is invaluable.”
Her presentation, “Encourage, Educate, Empower: Creating an Inclusive Culture of Care for Underserved Student Populations,” was a featured session for the Center for First-Generation Student Success. Additionally, Perez-Johnston co-presented a pre-conference workshop, “Small, Medium and Large Institutions: Tailored Interventions for First-generation and Underrepresented Student Success,” that was exclusively sponsored by the Center for First-Generation Student Success.
