GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Margaret (Boose) Norris ’78 was recently appointed to serve a three-year term as a member of the Thiel College Board of Trustees.

Norris began her career with Price Waterhouse in Pittsburgh before moving on to financial services. She held several positions at First Union in Charlotte, N.C., now part of Wells Fargo, including leadership roles in finance, investor relations, and mortgage and commercial loan servicing. After leaving Wells Fargo, she was Chief Operating Officer at Community One Bank prior to a merger with First Tennessee/First Horizon. Norris is currently principal at her “fractional” COO consulting business, IndigoB, and is a founding member of the eVolve Group, which provides virtual c-suite solutions for businesses.

Norris currently serves on the board of the Alzheimer’s Association of Western Carolina and as a member of the Lancaster County Council of the Arts. She is also a member of the Van Wyck, S.C. Planning Commission and a member and former president of Women Executives-Charlotte.

Norris graduated from Thiel College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and business administration in 1978. She was a member of Les Lauriers, Chi Eta Sigma business honorary, and the treasurer for the Sigma Kappa sorority. She was also a student assistant to Professor David Miller ’61, H’19. She received the PICPA Award for Accounting her senior year and was also awarded the Vira Heinz Scholarship, which allowed her to spend the summer of 1977 in London working for Mellon Bank. As an alumna, she participated in the mentor program through the Center for Women’s Leadership in 1998 and as a speaker in the Business Honors Seminar the same year. She met her late husband, Robert Norris ’77, at Thiel College as well.

Maggie has a son, and they both enjoy spending time outdoors in her conservation neighborhood. She enjoys cooking new recipes, spending time in her garden, and playing ball with her Boykin Spaniels.

“I am honored and excited about contributing my time to the Thiel College community, which played such a large role in launching my career path,” Norris said.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the oversight of Thiel College. The Board adopts rules, regulations and policies governing Thiel College and has authority over curricular development, use of property, development of facilities and fiscal and human resources management. The Board of Trustees meets formally three times a year on campus.
