From the worldwide issue of melting ice, to songs from around the world, the changing climate is the focus of the 19th annual Earth Week celebration April 10-12 at Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania. All events are free and open to the public. This year’s theme is climate change.

Fraternities and sororities at Thiel College (www.thiel.edu) are holding their annual Greek week competition where each chapter promotes unity through friendly competition at events each day of the week. The western Pennsylvania college has three national fraternities (Delta Sigma Phi, Kappa Sigma and Sigma Phi Epsilon), four national sororities (Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Sigma Kappa and Zeta Tau Alpha) and one local fraternity (Phi Theta Phi).

The newest student organization at Thiel College, the Outdoor Recreation Club, will focus on exploring the region’s natural resources, forging students’ connection to the larger community and teaching students outdoor safety. Interest in the club was one factor that led to its creation—with more than 40 students signed up at the club’s launch.
