Montgomery will serve as the Greenville Neuromodulation Scholar of Neuroscience and Philosophy, beginning in fall 2013. A fellowship-trained Movement Disorders Specialist who has established deep brain stimulation (DBS) programs at major medical centers and universities throughout the country and has treated more than 10,000 patients with Parkinson's disease, Montgomery was also named Medical Director of the Greenville Neuromodulation Center (GNC) in June.

Thiel College announced today that David E. Baughman, a Greenville native and life-long resident of the borough who passed away on Nov. 8, 2012, bequeathed $3.7 million to the college.

Dr. Louis Zona, executive director of the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, will present "300 Years of American Art" at Thiel College on March 27 at 7 p.m. in the Lutheran Heritage Room of the Howard Miller Student Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The Thiel Choir is hitting the road for its annual spring tour in March. Each year, under the direction of Dr. Michael Bray, director of choral activities, and accompanied by pianist Kathryn A. Gray, the student choir performs a largely a cappella program in Lutheran churches throughout the eastern United States.

The Community Medical Ethics Project, a collaboration between UPMC Horizon, Thiel College, St. Paul's, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, will examine changes ahead for health care during its next presentation, which will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, at Thiel College's Glen Johnson Community Center (located at the end of Ridgeway Avenue, off College Avenue near the College chapel in Greenville). Two sessions of identical content will be available: 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
