Homecoming returns to campus with “There is No Place Like Homecoming” on Sept. 25–28 with four days of Tomcat spirit and alumni reunions.
Highlights include Thursday’s kickoff rally and campus photo, a Joining Generations cookout, and a screening of The Wizard of Oz; Friday’s alumni hospitality, Blue-Gold Golf Outing, campus tours, career panel, athletics, and Alumni Awards Dinner capped by a pep rally and fireworks; Saturday’s parade, tailgate zone, class reunions, and the 3 p.m. Tomcats vs. Waynesburg football game; and Sunday’s Service of Remembrance.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to wear blue and gold, volunteer, and help welcome alumni home.
Greenville Heritage Days Committee is seeking volunteers for the annual Riverside Haunting, a free drive-through Halloween event in Riverside Park launched in 2020.
Community groups create themed “scare sites” along the route; donations collected support year-round Heritage Days Committee events, including July’s Heritage Days. The event typically draws 300+ vehicles, and organizers aim to top that in 2025.
Thiel groups interested in hosting a scare site should submit the attached registration form by Sept. 5, 2025. Groups may also volunteer for logistics (traffic control, trash collection, donation stations). For details, use the form’s contact information.

Thiel College held its annual campus retreat, with President Susan Traverso, Ph.D. sharing campus updates alongside introductions of new employees and interactive activities and conversations. The event also recognized service milestones in five-year increments, highlighted by Professor of Chemistry G. Rattan K. Khalsa, Ph.D., who has served at Thiel since 1980.

Support the Toby Atwood ’26 scholarship fund through a Double Good popcorn pop-up—50% of every purchase benefits the fund, and orders ship directly to the address provided in the order.
Launched by Professor of Business Administration and Accounting Melissa Oakes ’03, the fundraiser runs now through Friday, Aug. 22, at 8 a.m. Oakes asks that the link be shared with friends and family to amplify the impact.
Atwood was a Thiel College student who passed away this summer while running the Presque Isle Half Marathon.

Campus activity ramped up as student-athletes from all fall sports moved in, football reported early, the marching band began band camp, and the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program hosted a picnic.
By Saturday, Aug. 23, first-year students will have moved in, and by Sunday, Aug. 24, returning students will have joined them. Classes start Monday, Aug. 25, and the PA program’s third cohort is scheduled to graduate Saturday, Sept. 6.

Students from the fifth cohort of Master of Science in speech-language pathology program celebrated commencement Thrusday, July 31 received their diplomas and then enjoyed a reception with proud family and friends at the Howard Miller Student Center.

A special congratulations went to Sarah Stoll M.S.’25 for being named the 2025 Dr. Sonya Wilt Outstanding SLP Graduate Student. This award was established in honor of Sonya Wilt, Ph.D., the founding Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders faculty member at Thiel College, to honor the student who exemplifies overall excellence in each graduate cohort.
Program director Amy Tepper, Ed.D. said Stoll distinguished herself in every way possible throughout her time in the program. She demonstrated excellent work ethic during all of her academic, clinical, and service endeavors at Thiel College.
Additional honors went to Lillianna Briscoe ’24 M.S.’25 who was named the 2025 Dr. Nancy Antonino Outstanding Graduate SLP Clinician. This award was established in honor of Nancy Antonino, the longest-serving CSD faculty member at Thiel College, to honor the student who exemplifies excellence in clinical practice. Briscoe completed the 5-year Bachelor/Master in Speech-Language Pathology at Thiel College. Throughout the entire program, Briscoe showed an extraordinary passion for the field of speech-language pathology, Tepper said.

The first cohort of first-year Thiel College students arrived on Aug. 2. The students are participating in the Excel program. The second group of Excel students is scheduled to arrive on Saturday, August 9. See the calendar for the complete schedule.
Following fall athletes and the Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride move in, the remainder of new students move in Saturday, August 23. Returning students will arrive Sunday, August 24.
