With the bewitching season of Halloween fast approaching, the faculty are brewing up an enchanting celebration that promises to be truly magical. In the spirit of fun and camaraderie, we are thrilled to extend a special invitation to you to join us in embracing the fantastical world of Harry Potter by dressing up as your favorite characters from this beloved series on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Students Payton Blankenbeckley ’24, Jenna Ciarrochi ’24Erika Cook ’24, and Kayla Roddy ’24 will be leading a sitting meditation session to help the Thiel College community cope with anxiety and stress. Although specific focus is given to college students experiencing some anxiety and stress, all members of the campus community are encouraged to attend. In addition to the sitting meditation session, there will be motivational wristbands, capsules that contain a positive affirmation, and mindfulness meditation activity cards.

Seneca Valley School District hosting 5K in honor of Gloyer

The inaugural Ryan Gloyer Memorial 5K Run/Walk is Nov. 5 in Harmony, Pa.

Gloyer graduated from Thiel College in 2004. He was killed in action in 2016 in Afghanistan.

Student, professor attend entrepreneurship fair

Ava Kidder ’24 and Gary Witosky ’79 attended the Pittsburgh Corporate Intrapreneurship program on Oct. 4. The event is sponsored by the Entrpreneurship Leadership Council, of which Thiel is a member.

The program was attended by students and faculty from approximately 20 colleges and universities from the region and provided an opportunity for students to engage with representatives of several mid-sized regional companies, network with their peers, and foster connections. They were also able to consult with experts in personal branding, curate their digital presence, and produce a polished professional headshot. Kidder is a multi-year Haller Scholarship recipient who owns and operates a wedding videography business.

Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Biology Mary O'Donnell, Ph.D. and her husband. They welcomed a baby girl, Emilia Shea O'Donnell on October 6. Both baby and mom are doing fine!

My Dear Thiel Community:

On behalf of my family, I want to thank you for your kind and prayerful support, especially during this past week as my mother passed away at age 97 after suffering from dementia and Parkinson’s. More than I can express, I am so very grateful for your expressions of sympathy, cards, flowers, and generosity during this difficult time. I know it will take time to process her death, but I also know that I am grateful for the time I’ve had with her and for the very special community that I have in each of you here at Thiel.

Bethany Retreat Center Mission Trip

St. Paul’s Events

St. Paul’s Senior Living Community is hosting several events in late October and early November.

The first event is an open house to see the living facilities at St. Paul’s on Oct. 25. The “Ask an Expert“ series will look at navigating today's healthcare system and will include Thiel College alumnus and President and CEO of St. Paul’s Senior Living Community Chris Wright ’99, VNA Alliance Executive Director Tim Dunn and Vice Preisdent of Physician Services & Associate Legal Counsel, Meadville Medical Center Gabrielle Pierce, Esq.

St. Paul’s will host a craft fair on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Seneca Valley School District hosting 5K in honor of Gloyer

The inaugural Ryan Gloyer Memorial 5K Run/Walk is Nov. 5 in Harmony, Pa. 

Gloyer graduate from Thiel College in 2004. He was killed in action in 2016 in Afghanistan.

Thiel College fraternity Kappa Sigma hosts 28th annual See-Saw-A-Thon for Military Heroes

The 28th annual Kappa Sigma See-Saw-A-Thon to raise money for the local veterans begins at noon Friday, October 6, and will continue for 72 consecutive hours until noon Monday, October 9 on the lawn near the intersection of routes 18 and 58 in front of Thiel College’s Howard Miller Student Center.

Hundreds of students expected as Thiel hosts Mercer County guidance counselors college fair

Hundreds of students and representatives from 75 colleges, universities, trade schools, businesses, career centers, and military branches are set to attend the Mercer County Guidance Counselors Association College Fair at Thiel College in the Rissell-Beeghly Gymnasia from 9–11 a.m. on Thursday, October 5.

Gym parking lot closed for College Fair

Please note that the gym parking lot will be closed on Thursday, October 5 for the Mercer County Guidance Counselors College Fair and Career Day.

The lot will remain closed for the duration of this event. The Gym Parking Lot will open around noon that day.

Students can park at the Passavant Center. Faculty and Staff can utilize the parking lots at Greenville Hall, the staff lot behind the football offices, and or the Passavant Center parking lot.

Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812

This is a free trip for Thiel College students to attend a performance of Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 an award-winning Broadway musical.

The bus will leave campus around 3:30 p.m., and allow participants to have a meal on their own in the area. All participants must then meet the group at the 7 p.m. to receive their tickets for the show. The bus will return to campus immediately after the show, and should be back at Thiel College by midnight.
