Position Summary

Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders/Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program

Position Highlights and Requirements: Open-rank tenure-track position; nine-month appointment with additional compensation for summer teaching; be a faculty member for undergraduate CSD program and SLP graduate program at Thiel College; emphasis on teaching, clinical education, and service/research; teach 4 courses/semester at undergraduate and graduate levels and provide clinical supervision/education for on-campus clinic; opportunities for course release for research and service projects; doctoral degree in speech-language pathology, or a closely related discipline is required; strong ABD candidates considered, Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and ability to obtain Pennsylvania professional license required; ASHA dues, PSHA dues, and professional development funding provided by Thiel College. The listed position is an open-rank tenure-track nine-month appointment faculty position with option for additional compensation for summer teaching and clinical supervision. Thiel College will provide ASHA dues, PSHA dues, and professional development funding.

The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders is well-established at Thiel College and offers a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology. The M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology was awarded full accreditation in August 2023. The MS-SLP Program is the first graduate program in the history of Thiel College which offers the faculty member a unique opportunity for program development and growth. The department has state-of-the-art teaching facilities and an on-campus clinic.

The communication sciences and disorders (BS-CSD) major at Thiel College serves the higher education needs of pre-professionals as they advance their career and reach toward their personal enrichment goals. This interdisciplinary curriculum prepares students to compete for admission to graduate school and prepare for a career in the profession. The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program (MS-SLP) at Thiel College serves to prepare students to enter the workforce as speech-language pathologists. The program includes requirements needed for certification and licensure. Students will have a combination of academic coursework focusing on professional issues and disorders across the speech-language pathology scope of practice, lifespan, and diverse populations.
