Cataloging & Reference Librarian
The Cataloging & Reference Librarian focuses on performing cataloging activities of both physical and digital collections and serving patrons in reference and library instruction services.
Education and Experience:
MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited program required
Essential Job Functions:
- Creates original and copy cataloging, including creation and editing of bibliographic records, maintaining professional cataloging standards and maintaining collection integrity of print and electronic materials.
- Assists in the maintenance and operation of the library’s automation system.
- Communicates in a team environment between OCLC and library staff, serving as a liaison, actively focusing on problem solving.
- Knowledge of digital archival practices, metadata and controlled vocabulary focusing on accessibility, utilizing CONTENTdm.
- Assists with planning and implementation of digital archive projects and workflows for digitization to ensure accurate and discoverable metadata.
- Creates and teachs library instruction and information literacy sessions with both classroom and online content as assigned by library director.
- Provides reference services, serve at the reference desk and/or virtual reference at designated hours per week.
- Knowledge of OCLC WMS, CONTENTdm, EZproxy, MARC21, AACR2/RDA, LCSH.
