Assistant Track & Field/Cross Country Coach

Thiel College seeks an Assistant Track & Field / Cross Country Coach. This position reports to the Director of Track & Field / Cross Country and the Director of Athletics. The selected candidate will assist the Director of Track & Field / Cross Country in all aspects of the college’s Track & Field & Cross Country programs with a focus distance running and/or horizontal jumps while holistically developing student-athletes into leaders.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach/instruct student-athletes in their designated sport (primary duty of all coaches).
  • Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of game and practice preparations.
  • Mentor and monitor the student-athlete's academic progress.
  • Evaluate student-athletes academically and athletically.
  • Assist in planning and implementing pre/post workout program.
  • Assist with fundraising activities.
  • Assist with community service planning and implementation.
  • Recruit, retain, and graduate quality student-athletes for Thiel College and the athletic program.
  • Serve as a gameday administrator.
  • Follow all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA Division III, the Presidents Athletic Conference, and Thiel College.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all NCAA and institutional guidelines, policies, and rules. Demonstrate professional behavior while operating with integrity.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Head Coach.

Education and Experience:

  • Applicants are required to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Prior coaching and/or collegiate playing experience preferred.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated, possess strong communication skills, and have solid organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills. They must also strive for excellence and take pride in everything they do.

Safety/Training Requirements:

  • Continuing education for topics relevant to the field.
  • Periodic training on topics of nondiscrimination, prevention of harassment, prevention of sexual misconduct, and other topics as required.
  • A post-job-offer physical exam and background check will be required (scheduled and paid by the College).

This is a part-time, 10-month paid position with a $10,000 stipend, on-campus housing, a cell phone stipend, and a meal plan.
