Thiel equestrians earn multiple top finishes at University of Findlay competition

GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel College equestrian team delivered an outstanding performance over the weekend, earning multiple top placements at a two-day competition hosted by the University of Findlay on Nov. 22-23. The event featured a competitive field of programs, including the University of Findlay, Ohio State University, Kent State University, Lake Erie College, and Bowling Green State University.

Led by coach Jesse Jerik, four Thiel riders earned ribbons across rail and pattern events, contributing valuable points toward individual qualification for Regionals.

On Day 1, Emma Cannata ’26 secured a fifth-place finish in patterns, while Kelly Oros ’26 posted a strong showing with third place in rail and a first in patterns. Oros continued her momentum into Day 2, earning another first-place ribbon in patterns. Rowin Smolinsky ’28 added to the team’s success with a fifth-place finish in pattern on Day 1 and sixth place on Day 2. Sylvia Novak ’27 rounded out Thiel’s competitive performance with a fourth-place finish in rail and second place in patterns on Day 1, followed by fourth place in patterns on Day 2.

“These earned placements are significant and represent an exciting weekend for Thiel Equestrians, as they contribute essential points toward qualifying for Regionals,” said equestrian academic advisor Jennifer Gongaware. “With Coach Jesse’s leadership, our riders continue to thrive in the arena.”
