GREENVILLE, Pa.—Meadow Campbell ’24, a political science and public policy major, was selected to participate in the American Civil Liberties Union National Advocacy Institute College and Community Program held virtually this summer. Campbell previously participated in the ACLU’s Institute for high school students.

“I was enthusiastic to join the American Civil Liberties Union for a second time to deepen my knowledge on policy,” Campbell said.

The program’s objective is to prepare college-aged participants for professional roles in legal advocacy, policy development, law, and public service by prompting public policy-related discussions and by providing information about internships and professional opportunities in communications, law, and public policy.

During the five days of the program, around 1,000 students and recent college graduates attended the online program. Each participant chose up to six elective courses focused on different topics to learn about during the week. Aside from the work participants had to complete, the program also hosted a virtual talent show, Drag Bingo, and several special guests.

“Anyone who has an interest in social justice, advocacy, or policymaking should reach out to ACLU and learn more,” Campbell said.

Campbell, of Saegertown, Pa., is a 2020 graduate of Saegertown High School.
