Organization of Black Collegiates hosting slate of activities for Black History Month

GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Organization of Black Collegiates at Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania, are celebrating Black History Month with a variety of events including their 18th annual Soul Food Feast.

“The celebrations surrounding OBC Black History Month are centered on raising awareness of the minority culture on campus,” President of the Organization of Black Collegiates Timothy Jackson ’19 said. “This week highlights various cultures on campus by featuring international food at our Soul Food Feast and bringing a diverse array of speakers to campus for Culture Day.”

The OBC plans events throughout the last full week of February every year to celebrate Black History Month. For a full list of Black History Month events and other activities go to www.thiel.edu/calendar.

Featured events include:

“Partnering with the OBC is a great way of highlighting different cultures on campus.” Director of Student Activities and Involvement Than Oo said. “We appreciate that they take the lead on campus about educating the Thiel community about minority issues in a way that is appropriate and acceptable to everyone.”
