Alumni and friends set to go “Wild with Pride” at the Thiel College Homecoming celebration

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College is celebrating its annual Homecoming tradition with a variety of in-person and select online events from Friday, Oct. 1 through Sunday, Oct. 3.

“Homecoming weekend is a special time for the Thiel community to come together to celebrate shared experiences and memories,” Vice President for College Advancement Roberta Leonard said. “Every Homecoming at Thiel is a special event, but I am, from the bottom of my heart, looking forward to being able to welcome alumni and friends back to campus.”

 Homecoming at Thiel this year will include an adjusted parade route. The annual tradition will begin at the Moose Club in the Town of Greenville and proceed east on Shenango Street. The parade will turn left on North Penn Avenue and then turn right on Eagle Street. Marchers will turn left on College Avenue before finally ending by with a left on Ridgeway Avenue. The parade is from 1:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Online events will include a worldwide virtual meeting as well as a social media campaign that will have alumni and friends of the College dressed in Thiel gear and colors and competing for prizes.

In-person events will include dedications of the Class of 1971 quad, which is the culmination of the largest class gift fundraising campaign in the school’s history and recognition of the gateway at the Barry and Carol (Yeager) Stamm Track & Field Complex.

The Tomcats’ football game with the Westminster Titans kicks off at 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on Youngstown CBS affiliate WKBN Channel 27.

While participating in events held or sponsored by Thiel College, consistent with CDC guidelines, participants are encouraged to practice hand washing hygiene, social distancing and wear face coverings regardless of vaccination status to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19.
