Track and field, cross country teams sponsoring Homecoming 5K race

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania, is hosting a 5K run/walk at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 as a part of the Homecoming 2017 celebration and the dedication of its new track and field complex. The event is sponsored by the Thiel College cross country and track and field teams.

The 5K begins on the new track immediately following the dedication ceremony, which will be held at 9 a.m. Registration for the run begins at 8:30.

“The teams and the whole campus community are all very excited to celebrate the grand opening of our new facility with this run,” track and field and cross country coach William Mills ’08 said. “It is particularly special because this facility gives the last of our varsity sports teams a home on campus. It also means we have another venue for the Greenville community to enjoy with us.”

There is a $20 fee for race participants. All proceeds will support the track and field and cross country teams. Checks payable to “Thiel College Cross Country” or “Thiel College Track and Field” can be mailed to 75 College Avenue, Greenville, PA 16125, “Attn: Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach.”

Homecoming 2017 will be held from Oct. 12-15. Register and pay for the race and other Homecoming 2017 events online. The deadline for race registration is Saturday, Oct. 7.
